Platypus – Panettone & Fruits

While everyone else is sweltering over the roast, our platypus has the right idea. Santa hat on, it’s paddling happily through a cool pond, weaving between lily pads and reeds. Christmas in summer, done properly.

The scent is Panettone: sweet, buttery festive bread, the kind that always ends up on the Christmas table. Paula designed the artwork herself and had it sublimated onto the jar, so this platypus is as rare on a shelf as it is in the wild. Lift the lid and there’s one more surprise: watercolour eucalyptus leaves printed around the inside rim.

• Wax: Soy wax · Burn time: 35 hours

Candle care: Trim the wick to about 5 mm before every burn. On the first burn, let the wax melt right out to the edge of the jar so it doesn’t tunnel. Burn on a heat-resistant surface, away from draughts, curtains and anything flammable. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Stop burning when about 1 cm of wax remains.
